Brand Clarity Sprint
Your brand has customers. But does it have a story?
A focused brand positioning sprint for independent, founder-led consumer brands who’ve outgrown their first message — and need a strategic foundation strong enough to carry the next chapter.
You can walk in scattered and walk out with clarity
Is this your brand right now?
✔ You started with a product, not a brand story — and now you feel the gap every time you try to grow
✔ You have fiercely loyal customers (maybe even an incredible return rate!) but you can’t articulate WHY they keep coming back beyond the product itself
✔ Every new product launch feels like a gamble because there’s no brand umbrella holding it all together
✔ Copycats are flooding your category, and your only defense right now is “we were first” — which isn’t a strategy
✔ You’ve tried internal branding exercises before — maybe a workshop, maybe a mood board session — but nothing stuck or created real change
✔ Your team makes brand decisions from gut feeling because there’s no shared foundation to work from
✔ You’re watching story-driven, premium brands win in your space and you know that could be you — if only you had the narrative to match
✔ You keep repeating a message that has no soul — and you’re ready for that to change
You don’t have a product problem. You have a story problem.
Here’s what I see again and again with founder-led consumer brands:
You built something people love. Customers come back. You have traction — maybe a retail presence, maybe a growing online community, maybe both.
From the outside, things look great. But inside it’s chaos.
Your messaging is different on your website than on your Instagram than in your pitch deck. Your team can’t explain the brand in one sentence. When a journalist, a buyer, or an investor asks “what makes you different?” you fumble through product features instead of telling a STORY that pulls people into your world.
And the scariest part: Your copycats are multiplying.
Because without a story, the only thing you’re competing on is PRODUCT - and products can be copied overnight.
But here’s what can’t be copied: how your brand makes people feel.
You just need language for the feeling first.
Imagine…
Imagine your team making decisions from a shared North Star instead of guesswork.
Imagine launching a new category and having it feel like a natural extension of who you are instead of a random side project.
Imagine briefing a designer, a PR agency, or a new team member in minutes, because everything they need is in one document.
Imagine your brand story being so clear that copycats become irrelevant.
Because what they’re copying is the product. Not the soul.
THAT’s what brand clarity unlocks.
And that’s exactly what we build together in the Sprint.
Hi, I’m Joana
I’ve spent my career being the translator between brilliant brands and the audience who need to understand them.
After 6 years in brand strategy consulting working with global brands like Porsche, Audi, Daimler, and Nestlé — plus over a decade across communications, TEDx coaching, and marketing — I can say with 100% certainty:
There’s ALWAYS a story to be uncovered.
In the Brand Clarity Sprint, I don’t impose your positioning from the outside.
We co-create it through the right conversations, with the right questions, using my signature EDGE method to carve out what already sets you apart.
I’ve designed and facilitated dozens of strategy workshops where founding teams finally see their brand clearly — not because I told them what to be, but because we worked together to uncover what was already there and then structured it beautifully.
My background spans:
/ Strategy consulting: 6 years designing and facilitating brand workshops for major clients, translating abstract vision into gripping narratives
/ TEDx coaching: Helping visionaries distill complex ideas into messages that move people - both emotionally and then to action
/ Global healthcare campaigns: Making complex innovations understandable and accessible across cultures and languages
/ Startup storytelling: Turning founder missions into narratives that investors and customers rally behind
The magic isn’t in me telling you who your brand should be.
It’s in creating the space where you can see your own gold clearly — then architecting it into messaging that makes everyone else see it too.
“Perfect blend of fun and goal-oriented work!”
“Working with Joana has been transformational for our brand. Her expertise in storytelling helped us articulate our Why and build a solid foundation for the next phase.”

The EDGE Framework™
Every engagement is powered by my signature method. The same framework I’ve used with global brands and emerging founders alike.
E — ESSENCE
Uncover the emotional core of your brand. Your origin story, your founders’ why, the truth underneath the product. This is the layer that makes customers feel something — even if they can’t explain why.
D - DIFFERENCE
Identify what makes your brand unique and uncopyable. Not your product features — your patterns, your strengths, your real position in the market. The thing that’s yours and yours alone.
G - GOLD
Dig up the hidden nuggets — the stories, details, and truths you don’t even realize are special. Every brand has gold buried in plain sight. We find it.
E - EXPRESSION
Translate everything into a clear brand narrative, messaging principles, and communication guidelines your entire team can actually use tomorrow, not someday.
Sprint energy. Strategic depth.
The Brand Clarity Sprint moves fast without cutting corners. We work in three focused phases over 4–6 weeks so you walk away with a complete brand foundation instead of yet ANOTHER dusty strategy deck that lives and dies on your Google Drive. Nobody wants that!
PHASE 1: BRAND AUDIT & DEEP DIVE:
Before we meet, I do my homework.
Deep dive into your customer data — reviews, testimonials, survey responses, the words your customers actually use to describe you (this is where the gold hides)
Audit of your existing brand materials — website, social, packaging, any previous brand docs or style guides
Competitor landscape review — where you sit, where the gaps are, where the real opportunity lives
1:1 founder interviews — I talk to each of you individually to understand the vision from every angle
Optional: customer interviews to hear directly how they experience your brand (highly recommended)
By the time we sit down for the workshop, I’m not starting from scratch. I’m arriving with hypotheses, patterns, and the right questions.
PHASE 2: BRAND STRATEGY WORKSHOP
This is where the magic happens.
Two half-day sessions (4 hours each, via Zoom or in person) where we work through the EDGE Framework together as a team:
Session 1: Essence + Difference Uncovering your origin story, your emotional core, and what truly sets you apart in the market. We’ll work through creative exercises and co-create the strategic foundations of your brand identity.
Session 2: Gold + Expression Refining the hidden gems and translating everything into narrative, messaging, and voice. This is where your brand starts to have language that finally matches what you’ve always felt.
What we’ll co-create together in the room:
Your brand origin story — refined and powerful
Core brand themes and key messages
Your unique positioning statement
Brand personality and voice direction
Core values and what they actually mean in practice.
PHASE 3: YOUR BRAND PLAYBOOK
The document your team will actually use.
After the workshop, I take everything we’ve built and synthesize it into your comprehensive Brand Playbook — the strategic foundation document your team will reference every time they write a caption, brief an agency, evaluate a new product idea, onboard a new hire, or pitch to a buyer.
This NOT a pretty PDF to file away. It’s an operational tool built for daily use.
You’ll also get one feedback loop (a 60-minute call) to fine-tune and finalize everything before delivery.
What’s inside:
Everything your team needs to make your brand show up consistently, powerfully, and unmistakable.
✔ Complete brand narrative — the story of your brand, told powerfully and ready to use on your website, in pitch decks, and in press materials
✔ Positioning statement and tagline options
✔ Core values — and what they mean in practice (not just words on a wall, but decision-making filters)
✔ Brand personality and tone of voice guide — so everyone from your social media manager to your agency sounds like the same brand
✔ Key messages your team needs to repeat again and again
✔ Content themes and storytelling angles for social media, PR, and campaigns
✔ Website copy recommendations — homepage, About page, product category intros
✔ Instagram bio refresh
✔ Visual identity direction brief — so your designer knows what the look and feel should communicate (this is the strategic input they’ve been missing)
✔ Product expansion framework — a simple filter to evaluate whether new products, categories, or collaborations belong under your brand
Note: The Brand Playbook is your company’s strategic foundation document. It’s designed to be used by your whole team, not just the founders. Think of it as the brand’s operating manual: the single source of truth that keeps everyone aligned as you grow.
After the Brand Clarity Sprint, you will:
✨ Introduce new product categories with confidence — because you KNOW they fit your brand
✨ Have a brand story so clear that copycats can’t touch it — they can copy your product, but they can’t copy your soul
✨ Feel grounded and calm as the market evolves — because you’re built for the long game, not just trends
✨ Have your team making decisions from a shared foundation instead of guessing
✨ Brief agencies, freelancers, and collaborators in minutes instead of hours
✨ Have customers and buyers understanding exactly why your brand is different
✨ Feel the energy and joy you had at launch alive in every touchpoint again
✨ Stop wasting time on messaging that falls flat — because you finally know what to say and how to say it
This is probably NOT for you if:
✗ You’re pre-launch and haven’t sold anything yet. You need customers before you need positioning
✗ You’re looking for a logo, color palette, or visual rebrand. This is strategy, not design (though it will make your designer’s job dramatically easier)
✗ You want someone to “just write the copy” without the strategic foundation underneath
✗ You’re not ready to invest time in the process. The Sprint requires your active participation, especially in the workshop
✗ You need personal brand coaching or presentation support. If that’s you, check out my Spotlight Story Method or Personal Repositioning Lab instead
The Brand Clarity Sprint is for brands with traction that need a story layer - the strategic narrative foundation that turns a product company into a brand people choose on purpose.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
This is specifically designed for independent, founder-led consumer brands that have existing traction — customers, sales, maybe retail presence — but lack a clear brand positioning and narrative. If your team struggles to explain what your brand stands for beyond the product, or if every new launch feels like a gamble, this is for you. It’s NOT personal brand coaching (that’s my Personal Repositioning Lab) and it’s NOT pitch coaching (that’s the Spotlight Story Method).
-
Ideally 2–5 people from your side. This should include the founding team and anyone who plays a key role in brand decisions. Enough people for rich discussion, small enough for meaningful co-creation.
-
A sprint is an intensive, focused strategic engagement designed for maximum results in minimum time. But unlike a one-day workshop, the Brand Clarity Sprint includes extensive prep work before we meet — I’m conducting interviews, auditing materials, reviewing competitors, and arriving with hypotheses before we ever sit down together. The workshop itself is two half-day sessions, and then I spend additional time synthesizing everything into your Brand Playbook. It’s sprint energy with consulting depth.
-
Internal exercises usually fail for two reasons: there’s no external perspective to challenge assumptions, and there’s no structured framework to turn insights into actionable output. The Brand Clarity Sprint solves both. I bring the outside lens and the methodology (the EDGE Framework), and you walk away with a tangible, usable document — not post-its on a wall that get forgotten by Monday.
-
This isn’t about intelligence. It’s about proximity. You’re too close to your own brand to see what makes it truly special. The details that feel “obvious” to you are often the exact things that make customers fall in love. I bring the external perspective and strategic structure to reveal what’s already there — and organize it into something powerful.
-
A branding agency typically takes 3–6 months and costs 3–10x as much. They often impose a brand identity from the outside. The Sprint is co-creative: we build your positioning together, which means it actually sticks because your team owns it. And unlike agency work, the Sprint focuses on the strategic narrative layer — the story, positioning, messaging, and voice — which then becomes the brief for any visual or design work you do next.
-
Your marketing team is trying to execute without a clear foundation to execute from. The Brand Playbook becomes the strategic input they’ve been missing. Once your positioning is clear, their campaigns suddenly have direction, your messaging becomes consistent, and you stop going back and forth on every brief.
-
No. The Sprint focuses on the strategic layer: positioning, narrative, messaging, voice. However, your Brand Playbook includes a Visual Identity Direction Brief that serves as a detailed creative brief for your designer. In my experience, this is exactly what design teams need to do their best work — and most brands skip this step, which is why their visual identity feels disconnected from their story.
-
It’s a complete, standalone engagement. You’ll walk away with everything you need to move forward confidently. There’s no upsell, no dependency, no “next phase” required. The implementation support is included to make sure the transition from strategy to execution is smooth. If down the line you want additional support, we can always discuss that, but the Sprint is designed to stand on its own.

Item description
-
Often times brand workshops fail because they’re either too abstract (lots of sticky notes, no outcomes) or too rigid (fill in this template, move on). Mine are neither. I spent six years in strategy consulting designing and facilitating workshops for major brand teams — Porsche, Nestlé, Deutsche Telekom — and I’ve brought that facilitation discipline into every Sprint. Every exercise has a clear purpose. Every discussion leads to a decision. And by the end, you’re not leaving with “inspiration” — you’re leaving with a co-created brand foundation that you built together as a team and that everyone is aligned on. That’s the difference between a workshop that generates post-its and one that generates a Playbook.
Let’s do this!
Big brand thinking at startup speed.
Your customers already love you.
Let’s give them (and your team, your partners, and potential investors) the language to understand why.
